Improved Standards Protect Caregivers

In 2012 the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) issued guidelines for caregivers in the home. NIOSH suggests home health workers use and receive training for “ergonomic assistive devices when needed to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders such as injury to muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, joints, cartilage, bones or blood vessels in the arms, legs, head, neck or back that is caused or aggravated by work tasks such as pushing or pulling.” By using Repositioning Device : (Boemba™), an ergonomically assistive medical device, the caregiver can potentially avoid many of these injuries.
